Kids See Free Program – Has Your Child Had an Eye Exam?

Growing up, I took for granted the fact that I had good eyesight. No one in my family wore glasses and my siblings and I always aced our eye exams. The privilege of being able to see didn’t cross my mind much. Then I married my husband! He has had to wear glasses or contacts for years and he can’t function without them!

Now genetics is not something I know much about, but the fact that my husband has vision issues automatically tells me that I need to pay closer attention to our children’s eyesight. Our oldest is four and starts Pre-K this year, and any problems with his eyes could absolutely affect his ability to concentrate and learn. He’ll be going for his first eye appointment this Fall to make sure all is well!

Have you taken your kids to an eye doctor yet? Did you know that according to the Canadian Association of Optometrists, one in four school-aged children have a vision problem?

Loblaw Companies Ltd. wants all kids in Canada to head back to school seeing clearly and they’re helping by once again running their Kids See Free program for the 5th year in a row!

On now through the end of this year, your child aged 4-10 can visit their closest Real Canadian Superstore location for an eye exam and can receive one pair of glasses with frames up to $49.00 in value. If you opt for a more expensive frame, or if your child requires more advanced lenses, the $49.00 will be used as a credit towards your optical purchase.

The Kids See Free program runs yearly, so you can take part each year as long as it’s been 365 days since your child last participated. If anything was holding you back from getting your child’s eyes checked, let this be your push to finally take them in! Eye exams are so important in identifying eye and other overall health problems. It’s worth your time!
