This Motherhood Journey

The Freedom To Be Exactly Who I Am

I haven’t blogged in nearly two weeks. That’s not normal for me, but sometimes a break is necessary.

Every now and then I feel the need to step back and analyze what I’m doing. I’d been feeling a little discouraged with this space and unsure of the direction I wanted to take it. I even considered re-branding the entire blog to strictly travel, but then I realized how much that would limit me and moved past it.

I don’t like my creativity being controlled. Because this is my space, I feel as though I should be able to write what I want to, when I want to. I understand that certain brands or companies may not want to work with me because of that, but I don’t want that to hold in what I’m feeling on any given day. It’s not who I am.

I have to be okay with certain opportunities not being a great fit for me because of this. You can’t have it both ways. Some bloggers do a ton of sponsored content on their blog and seem to nab every campaign that comes their way. I know many who work their blogs as a full-time job and have been super successful. I think that’s amazing and I’m super proud of them for doing so, but it’s not what I want.

I don’t ever want to get to the point where I’m taking away significant time from my kids in order to sustain this space. I’m okay with a couple hours a day, and having some extra cash is a huge help to us financially, but that’s good enough for me. I’m sticking with part-time.

I’ve had some amazing opportunities come about through Moments in Mommyland. I’ve taken trips I never dreamed I would, attended events with seats I could never afford, and made amazing friends that I keep in touch with daily. I hope these things continue to happen, but I’m not going to stress myself out trying to get bigger and better numbers or page views. I’m a simple stay-at-home Mother, I’m not a hardcore business woman.

I enjoy sharing about the things that make me happy. I adore my family, and through this blog I hope to encourage and inspire you to live your best life today. Whether I write about travel, education, products we’re using or changes we’re making, I’m inviting you to come along for the journey. We don’t have to agree on everything, but perhaps you’ll be given a different perspective on something you hadn’t thought of before.

If that sounds good to you, then feel free to stick around. I’m not a fancy person. I’m not a photographer and I’m not a fashionista. Most of the time I’m at home doing nonglamourous things like emptying the dishwasher and taking kids to the potty.

I’m just a Mom, telling my life story online. What you see is what you get.
