You know that feeling you get once home from a wonderful vacation? No, not exhaustion… That warm glowly happiness feeling? We’ve still got that going on over here.
Time away with family is such an important thing to me! There’s a special kind of bonding that takes place when you are out creating lasting memories through new experiences. To me, there’s not a whole lot better and that’s why travel is such a high priority to me!
Part of that relaxation we experienced came from the awesome place we stayed during our weekend away. We were provided with a one bedroom suite at the Executive Suites Squamish, about a five minute drive off the highway and sitting in a quiet area of the city. We had a room on the first floor (perfect for a young family) with a lovely view of the golf course and mountains behind us.
You all know how big I am on having a kitchen while travelling, so I was very happy to have access to a full fridge, stove, oven and all the pots, pans and cutlery we needed to prepare a meal. The main bedroom had a king sized bed and just enough room to sneak in a pack n play for our youngest. There was also a TV in there, which came in handywhen I was up at 5am for the day with Asher. I was told they did have play yards available for guests, but we opted to bring our own to make the transition easier for our boy. Having this separate room was a huge benefit for us! It allowed me to put Asher down at regular times for naps and bed since we still had the living area to hang out in.
The living room had a dining table, ottoman, lounging chair and a pull out bed from the couch, which is where our older boy slept with his Daddy. Noah thought this was the coolest arrangement ever and enjoyed watching Stuart Little from the comfort of his bed. By the way, we got the film from the front desk where you can borrow movies for your room at no cost! They also have bikes for guests use but we never had a chance to use them.
The bathroom setup had the toilet and tub/shower combo in one area and the counter/sink outside the door. Makes it easy to get ready for the day when someone taking a shower doesn’t screw up teeth brushing and me doing my hair.
A definite highlight for us was the pool and hot tub area. I used it twice on my own while the boys were sleeping or hanging out with their daddy. Noah and Matt went a couple times too and had a blast! For those of you who hate cold pools, this one is heated so it’s not hard to get in 😉
So would I stay here again? Totally. It met all of our needs and the staff were great about answering any questions and concerns. There were a lot of kids around so it obviously works for families. If you are looking for a weekend get away the Executive Suites Squamish makes a perfect home base! You’ll want a comfy place to come back to for a little rest.
PS – There’s a Tim Hortons within a two minute drive. Double double anyone?
