Whistler Summit, Whistler, BC

As a family with young children, there are a lot of things we have to consider in regards to where we stay. We would never choose not to travel because of having kids. So what do we look for?

Space, room layout and child friendliness is huge. Does it provide the option of eating in our room? Because eating out with toddlers three meals a day is kind of a gong show, not to mention expensive! Is it close to attractions we want to see, but still maintain that sense of calm we need to relax?

Yes, places like this do exist, you just need to know where to look. And if you are looking for one specifically in the Whistler area, you’ve got to check out the Summit Lodge!

Tucked on a street just behind the main hub of the bustling village, the Summit Lodge offers the perfect space for families. We stayed in a one bedroom suite, which had a full kitchen, one bathroom (with a soaker tub!) and a living room. The main bedroom had a comfy king sized bed with plenty of space for our pack n play (which they have available for your use) and the living room contained a couch with a pull out bed.

Summit has a beautiful outdoor area, with a pool, hot tub, sets of patio furniture, basketball hoop and grilling area. We took advantage of the BBQ during our visit and grilled up some burgers for dinner one night. There is also a spa located right in the hotel, in case mommy is looking for a little down time away from the kids!

The location was ideal for those with kids, since the Olympic Plaza playground was a two minute walk from the front door. I was able to grab coffee from one of several shops nearby and then sit on a bench sipping while our oldest ran around. Because this place isn’t right in the middle of Whistler Village, we didn’t have to worry about noisy traffic or loud late night partiers in the restaurants. However, everything was still in easy walking distance.

The staff were exceptional. I can’t remember the last time I had hotel staff holding elevators when they saw us approaching or asking if we needed anything at all when we passed them in the hall. Check in and check out were smooth, but parking in the tight lot downstairs is a tad tricky with a van!

Overall, we would stay at Summit Lodge in a heart beat! It really is ideal for folks like us with kids and our boys loved it! I promise you won’t regret booking with them.

      Hi Rachel,

Having a second room really is a HUGE benefit when traveling! It allows the hubby and I to have a bit of downtown, which when on vacation, is a truly magical thing haha. Thanks for popping by!
